 From her pageant beginnings to an eponymous television show, see some of her biggest moments after more than 55 years in the business

Cybill Shepherd has been dazzling onscreen for more than five decades!

The actress and singer, who turns 75 on Feb. 18, 2025, landed her first onscreen role in 1971 after already establishing herself as a model. From there, she went on to star in several big films and by the 1990s had landed her own eponymous show. Along the way, she also welcomed three children — including her twins who graced the cover of PEOPLE just weeks after they were born.

From her pageant beginnings to her return to the stage later this year, take a look back at Shepherd's life and career in photos.

Cybill Shepherd's Early Life

Cybill Shepherd was born on February 18, 1950 in Memphis, Tennessee. She stepped into the spotlight at an early age, first as a model, competing in the Miss Teenage America Pageant when she was 16 where she earned the title of Miss Congeniality.

In 1968 she was named model of the year and went on to have more than a dozen Glamour covers which was ultimately how she landed her first film role. The Last Picture show director Peter Bogdanovich saw her seventh cover in a supermarket in 1970 and remembers doing "a double take," he told PEOPLE in 1974.

"I owe my entire career to that cover," she said, per Glamour.

1971's The Last Picture Show marked Shepherd's first onscreen role, starring as Jacy Farrow alongside the likes of Jeff Bridges, Timothy Bottoms and Cloris Leachman.

From there came a string of roles in big films including The Heartbreak Kid and Taxi Driver and by the early 1980s she had crossed over to television as well.

Though Bogdanovich was married when they first met, he left his wife and moved with Shepherd into a Bel Air mansion, PEOPLE reported at the time.

“We have absolutely no thoughts of being married,” Shepherd said as part of the couple's PEOPLE cover story in 1974. Bogdanovich  said the question of marriage was “a chilling thought. Does she look like Mrs. Bogdanovich?”

In the late 1970s, Shepherd moved back to Memphis where she met auto-parts dealer David Ford. The two married after a few months and welcomed their daughter Clementine in 1979.

The couple's marriage ended in 1982, just before Shepherd jumped into her vibrant TV career.

Her first big TV role came in 1983 with The Yellow Rose where she played Colleen Champion opposite Sam Elliott and David Soul.

Cybill Shepherd on 'Moonlighting'

Just a few years later she landed the role of Maddie Hayes on Moonlighting. She and Bruce Willis starred together on the show for its entire five-season run. Her performance on the show earned her an Emmy nomination in 1986, as well as Golden Globe wins in 1986 and 1987.

For her first Golden Globe win in 1986, Shepherd wore a blue velvet off-the-shoulder gown. She has won a total of four Golden Globes over her career including two in 1996 when her eponymous show Cybill won best television series - musical or comedy and she also took one home for her performance on the series.

Cybill Shepherd and Bruce Oppenheim

Shepherd met chiropractor Bruce Oppenheim in 1985 while she was getting treated for migraines. The two hit it off and wed two years later — after Shepherd found out she was pregnant with the couple's twins.

The pair split up in 1989, per the L.A. Times.

 The Oscar-nominated actress went from one extreme to the other as she showed off the big change.

Kristen Stewart, known for starring in films like Twilight, Spencer and Love Lies Bleeding, looked unrecognizable during a recent outing after debuting a major style change. 

On Monday, Feb. 17, the actress was spotted in Los Angeles, Calif., as she went for a walk, seemingly to pick up food, in a casual outfit of sweatpants, sneakers and a tank top.

But it was Stewart's hair that really made her hard to recognize, as she recently dyed her hair platinum blond after rocking a deep brown color all last year. In the new photos,Check out the snaps of Stewart's style switch-up here.

Stewart first debuted the new color while promoting her movie Love Me at the end of January. On the red carpet for a special screening, Stewart showed off the bright blond hair with darker color at the roots and tips. Based on the latest photos of the star, Stewart went even blonder more recently. 

Love Me is her latest release, and it first premiered at the Sundance Film Festival last year. The film was later picked up for distribution and premiered in theaters on Jan. 31, 2025. Along with Stewart, the movie also stars Mickey 17 actor Steven Yeun and is a unique sci-fi love story between a satellite and a weather buoy. 

Next up for Stewart is the movie Sacramento, directed by and starring her ex-boyfriend, Michael Angarano, whom she dated for a few years in the 2000s. The film, described as a road trip comedy, also stars Michael Cera and Maya Erskine, and it's set to come out this spring.

The NBA All-Star Weekend concluded with a victory for Team Shaq, featuring some of the league's biggest stars, such as Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant and James Harden. 

Curry and the crew defeated Team Chuck, a group of international All-Stars such as Giannis Antetokounmpo and Nikola Jokic, 41-25. 

While these NBA stars put on a show between the white lines, there were also plenty of celebrities in attendance for All-Star weekend in San Francisco. One of the many celebrities on the sideline was NBA reporter Taylor Rooks. 

Rooks took to social media after All-Star weekend, sharing a few pictures from the event while showing off her outfit. 

The NBA reporter was wearing a slim-fitting ruched pink dress paired with a few accessories including a black purse with gold details and a gold cuff on her wrist. "You make the dress!" mentioned one fan.  

"The pink is everything," commented one fan. 

"A baddie!!!" said one fan. 

"Pretty in pink," said another fan. 

The NBA will continue its break until Feb. 19, when the Los Angeles Lakers and Charlotte Hornets take the floor for the first game of the second half of the season at 10 p.m. ET. 

 Tax season continued its sluggish start into early February, but tax refunds continued to steadily roll out the door.

Every tax season has its own quirks and nuances. Oddly enough, though, the Internal Revenue Service has received 7.7% fewer returns so far this year. The agency also has processed 7.6% fewer returns through Feb. 7, according to the latest data published Friday.

Why the delays?

A variety of factors could be coming into play and keeping many people from filing their returns early in the game, including misleading online tax advice via social media, a flood of 1099-K forms, political rancor, some delayed deadlines in states hit by federal disasters, and the calendar itself.The average federal income tax refund was $2,065 during this first two weeks of this year's tax season through Feb. 7, according to the IRS. That's up 18.6% from last year's tax season through Feb. 9, 2024.

Many times, those filing tax returns in late January and early February want to receive their refund cash as early as possible.

• Jane Fonda teased behind-the-scenes snaps from her new virtual reality workout classes that pay homage to her classic ’80s workout videos.

• The actress teamed up with Meta Quest’s Supernatural, a VR fitness program, to create the classes.

• She said her outfit, moves, and even studio mimics her original program.

It’s a full-circle moment: Jane Fonda created a workout series for Surpernatural, a virtual reality fitness subscription for Metaquest, that pays homage to and even mimics the original routines from her iconic Jane Fonda Workout VHS tapes released in the ’80s.

Fonda shared behind-the-scenes snaps from filming the new fitness content on Instagram. “I had so much fun creating these workouts and it was supernatural to be in a studio that looked just like the studio where I filmed my Original Workout videos,” she captioned the post. She added that she even wore the same outfit (leg warmers included!) and did many of the same aerobic moves.

But now, instead of following along with Fonda while watching TV, you can do so while wearing a Meta Quest virtual reality headset. The Supernatural classes available include Flow with Jane Fonda, Box with Jane Fonda & Ludacris, Jane Fonda: Stretching, and Jane Fonda: Team Workout. And if you’re intimidated by the format, Fonda has a response.

“Going from VHS to VR, I was surprised by how easy Supernatural was to pick up,” she recently told People. “We really bridged the past and future of fitness with this series. Aside from the technology, it felt as if no time had passed.”

And most importantly, the program serves the same purpose that Fonda’s original tapes did of making fitness more accessible. “After the videos came out, I’d get amazing letters from around the world,” Fonda recalled. “One was from a young woman in the Peace Corps in Guatemala who did the exercises in her mud hut. Another woman said she looked in the mirror as she was brushing her teeth and noticed new muscles in her arms. She wrote that it made her feel empowered.”

And classes like Fonda’s, new and old, help keep fitness interesting, too. “I work out every day, so it is important to mix up the way I move,” she explained to People. “I alternate days doing upper body and lower body work for strength. I also find some way to get cardio in. Walking outside is one of my favorite ways to do so.”

Fonda said she had “no idea [her] videos were going to become such a phenomenon.” And now there’s an opportunity for these classes to follow suit.

While in South Korea, Krok sourced Kawaii-inspired accoutrements for the rapper’s “Strategy” music video. Her long, square-tipped nails were a mix of purple plaid and 3D-adorned, with pearls, hearts, and bow charms.
